My Review

3.5 Hmmm 

“I remember when I used to be in charge,” Justice mused. “I even have the nice office and desk.”

Really? What a let down! Smiley is the first primate book of the series, and I really liked smiley in the other books , but this was just kinda sad. So Smiley is the 13th book in the New Species Series. Vanni, tricked by her fiancé to attend one of his father's church protest, is mad. She doesn't want anything to do with her soon to be father n laws hate church or want to support the lies they spit about the NSO. She goes to the bar to have a tea and finds herself drugged with the breeding drug . The nice NS male next to her, Smiley is also Drugged. With the drugs in their system they go at each other like animals. Now Vanni is all over the news and her life will never be the same!

“You’re so tight.” His voice deepened. “My dick is envious.”

Smiley for me was ok , there were times when I liked him , but then at times he fell flat for me. I liked that he was fun, playful, and at times he could be very sexy. Maybe if they spent more time together I could have got to see more of smiley and connected to him better.

“I’m already in love with you. I have been since we bonded in the back of that SUV. You trusted me to care for you and put your faith in me. You’ll never know what that meant. I went insane when I woke up and learned you’d run away from the task force members. I couldn’t eat or sleep. I worried that you were out there afraid and alone. That someone would hurt you. I want to protect you and keep you safe. I want you in my arms, in my home and with me all the time. I hate being apart from you. You’re all I think about.”


“I’d kill you but I don’t want Vanni to see it. You’re a piece of shit and you’re never going to see daylight again. You never deserved her. She will be happy while you learn what hell is.” He lowered his voice even more. “That doesn’t mean she will always be on the other side of the glass. I can visit you at any time. Let’s give you six months of living in a cage and I bet you will want to hit me then. We are going to fight at some point. Know that.”

Vanni was totally blah for me. I didn't like that she was with someone when the book started. I get that he was a jerk, but I still didn't like it. Vanni was naive , a little immature, boring , and flat! She didn't work for me at all. There is nothing that stands out to me about her , hell I can't even tell you what color her hair and eyes are ( was that even in the book? did I miss it?) Blah just Blah!!!!

“I think it’s so romantic that you want to kick someone’s ass over me.”

Vanni released Smiley’s arm and flipped Gregory off. “I always wanted to do that. Screw you, Gregory. Smiley and I are getting married. He’s the best thing that ever happened to me and I wanted you to know it. You did me the biggest favor of my life. Choke on that the next time you open your mouth and spew your hate.”

“I’m yours, Vanni. Say you’re mine. Let’s just do this. I know it might frighten you to take a mate this fast but trust me to be here for you. Take a leap. I’ll catch you. Always.”

There was some hot sex in this book, but Vanni and Smiley as a couple felt rushed, forced, and didn't feel real. They didn't spend enough time together and didn't really stand out. The secondary characters shined more then the main couple. The book as a whole was ok there are parts I really liked and then there was parts that felt boring , but I was really looking forward to smiley and feel really let down. I am hoping that Laurann Dohner writes books for Breeze, Flame, Jericho, and maybe Ven! I am still a fan and can't wait for the next book in this series. “I love you,” he blurted. “Fuck,” Jericho muttered. The male released him. He seemed to fix his attention on Beth. “Is she as nervous as he is?” “Like a virgin on prom night,” Beth stated. “Yes. I forgot. You probably don’t know what that means, do you? She’s good to go.” Smiley closed the distance between him and Vanni. He reached out and hoped she didn’t notice the way his hands trembled. He liked the way her cheeks turned slightly pink and how her tongue darted out to wet her lips. “You take my breath away.” “I hope you don’t mind that I put on a little makeup. I wanted to look my best.” “I’d have to throw you over my shoulder and carry you to our room to avoid taking you on the floor if you looked any better.” “Smooth,” Jericho muttered. “Hot.” Beth sighed.

Holy Shit!!! I don't know how I am going to write a review when I am a boneless melted puddle. Wow Darkness is freakin hott!!!!!!! Ok So Darkness is the 12th book in the New Species Series. Kat is a FBI agent sent in to homeland undercover by her douche bag boss to get the dirt on the NS and to look for Jerry Boris. From the first few minutes in the gates of homeland all hell breaks loose, and she does something that pretty much blows her cover. Now she is being interrogated by this tall sexy as hell NS male. What's a woman to do when her loyalties are torn between the man she wants more than any other or her career?

“You don’t want to see me snap. You’d end up with more than you could handle. You’d have two hundred forty-five pounds of raw male unleashed on your ass.” 

Darkness:

“I warned you that I wasn’t mate material.” “You did. I just thought you had issues. Instead you’re ice cold inside.”

MMMMM Damn Darkness is all kinds of kinky, dirty, damaged bad boy, yummy goodness!!! OMG Hawt dayum did I want to jump him! But I wanted to choke his ass a lot too. Darkness was messed up! He was sexy, strong and has a great heart, but he has so many damn walls built up and he tries so hard to lock everyone out of his heart that he comes across as cold sometimes. When he tells Kat about his pasted my heart just broke for him. I can see why he is fighting so hard to keep everyone away. Darkness is very stubborn and serious, so I loved the times Kat made him laugh or grin.


“Pretend you’re a female from my past so I can effectively do my job. I actually admired your skill out there. I don’t think I could have done as well as you did or dealt with those humans as quickly. You either think fast on your feet or it was a brilliant strategic move. You’re one of the best assassins I’ve ever met if that’s the case. If I’m wrong…” He looked at her chest. “It makes you exceptionally sexy.”


“I’ll fit.” He tore off one of the condoms from the roll and tossed the rest of them up near the top of the bed. She didn’t seem so certain or fearless anymore. It amused him. “I’ll go slow. You’re tough. I promised not to hurt you.” “I don’t think that’s an option. You’re size-proportioned, that’s for sure. I guess those big feet of yours should have been a clue. Do you carry a permit for that?”


“Relax and enjoy this. It’s the first step in mating. I’m claiming you in every way.”

Kat:

Kat is a totally bad ass bitch!!!! I loved her so freakin much. She was so sassy, strong and playful. She had a great personality. She says what she thinks, she is smart and a fast thinker. She doesn't let Darkness walk on her , but she fights for him hard.... She slowly tore down his walls, she was very understanding of his past, but didn't become a door mat for him just because he has issues. She was perfect for him!

“I thought you were going to never see me again?” She ran the tip of her tongue across his skin, paused right under his earlobe. “Did you bring handcuffs, Mr. Control?” She nibbled on his earlobe. “Control this.” Her hands started to roam his body wherever she could reach.


“It’s scary and messy when you start to fall for someone, Darkness. I heard that from someone who gave me a reality bitch-slap. This is yours. You can physically haul ass away from me but it’s not going to stop you from thinking about me or admitting that I’ve gotten to you. It’s a two-way street.”


“You win. I give up. I thought there was something more between us but I see you’re never going to allow that to happen. You can sleep alone from now on. That should thrill you.”

“Spread your thighs.” “Just like that, huh?” The soft growl was a warning. “Okay. That’s kind of sexy.” He smiled. “You think so?” “Yeah. I like it when your voice deepens too.” “Give me a few minutes and you might hear me snarl. You don’t scare easily, do you?”


Darkness and Kat together is like a sex explosion. They are more kinky then romantic, because Darkness tries really hard to keep all the intimacy out of it, but it was still very sexy. I loved Fury and Darkness in this book. It was great to get to see Sal Fury's .  I loved that Fury and Darkness are brothers!   I loved this book it is a great addition to the series, the only reason I didn't rate it 5 stars is because , it took too long for Darkness to come around for my liking, and they didn't kiss til the damn end. Other than that the book rocked! I am on to the next book. I will leave my favorite moment below :

“Stop it. This is immature.” “Brothers sometimes fight.” Fury waved his hand toward his chest, urging him to come at him. “Let’s figure out who is the toughest, bro.” “Goddamn it,” Darkness hissed. The fight was on. Fury grabbed his shirt and nailed him in the ribs with a knee. He groaned but regained the upper hand when he managed to land a blow to the male’s chin. Fury stumbled back but Darkness didn’t retreat that time. The male wanted to fight and he was up for it. He tackled Fury around the waist, taking them both to the ground. They rolled, exchanging punches. He heard someone approaching but ignored the audience they seemed to have drawn until males pulled them apart. Security had surrounded them quickly. He glared at Fury, who was being held by two other males. Fury actually grinned. He had blood around his mouth. “Tell me that didn’t feel good.” “What is going on here?” Jinx glanced between the two of them. “A little harmless competition,” Fury announced. “Release us.” “Harmless?” Jinx shook his head. “You’re both bleeding.” “We’re bleeding the same blood type though, aren’t we?” Fury arched an eyebrow at Darkness. “Release us,” Darkness repeated. “The fight is over.” “But the discussion has just begun. I’ll be back tomorrow night and every night after until we work this out,” Fury warned.

Oh yeah! True is the 11th book in the New Species Series, and the series is still kicking some major ass. Jeanie is working undercover to help free New Species from labs that have not been busted yet, or so she thinks...... Imagine her surprise when she wakes up in the hospital after being shot during a raid freeing the NS , to find out that she is going to prison, and they believe she is the enemy. Even worse then no one believing her is that 710 now known as True , who she is in love with, who she let herself be torturously experimented on with unknown drugs to keep him alive, is looking at her like she is the enemy , with anger and disgust! How is Jeanie going to win the trust of the man she loves, and prove to everyone that she isn't the bad guy?


“You should see your face,” she whispered. “You’re so sexy when you bite your lower lip and give me that wild look.”

True:

True was very likable . He was sweet, protective, and strong. Like all of the other NS males he is brave and honorable. I liked that he tried not to fight in front of Jeanie, knowing it upset her and controlled his temper well! He also was romantic and had a playful side.

“I belong to you as much as you belong to me. I will always protect you and take care of you. I almost lost you again. You have no idea how it would have destroyed me if those males had taken you from me. I will do everything in my control to make you happy.”



“You took pain for me.” His voice deepened. “You suffered so I could live. I never thought anyone could love me, Jeanie. I will give you so much pleasure to erase the memories of the pain if you’ll allow me.”


Jeanie:

Jeanie was caring with a big heart. She wants to help and do the right thing. She was very sweet, and brave. I loved how much she took care of the NS in the places she worked , how they all had great things to say about her. I also loved the fact that even though she was tenderhearted she still kicked total ass when she needed too!

“You changed my life, True. I think I fell in love with you from the moment I met you and you spoke to me. I didn’t want you to mate with me out of gratitude. I need you to care about me as much as I do you.”


“Fuck you, Jerry. Yeah. I know your name. I saw your picture when they showed me all the men who used to work for the NSO. Director Jerry Boris. You got fired because you were an asshole to Fury’s mate. He said you almost got her killed and tried to take her from him. You just can’t leave mates alone, can you? You took me from mine and guess what? I’m furious.”

 “You’re heaven.” Jeanie chuckled. “What a pair. You think I’m heaven and I think you’re a god.” “God, huh?” His hands lowered to firmly grab her ass as he ground his hips upward, sinking into her deeper. “A sex god.”

The plot to this book was very good. I hated the bad guy , Jerry Boris he made the perfect icky bad guy. Loved True and Jeanie as a couple they are very sweet. I loved Breeze again. For real Breeze needs her own damn book she is one of my favs and needs a HEA!! I liked Darkness alot in this book too. Can't wait to see what he is like in his own book which is next! This was a great book in the Series and I am glad that the series is still going strong 11 books in , I am not bored and they are keeping me coming back for more! I will leave my favorite moment below:

The tears that glistened in them weren’t a surprise. He had to be mortified at what she’d done—almost as much as she was. “For what?” “I lost my shit.” He sniffed. “It smells so bad down here, I can’t tell.” Tiger snorted. “She didn’t have an accident. She is talking about what she did to Boris.” True smiled. “I know. I was teasing. I wanted to get a smile from her. I’m proud of how strong you are, Jeanie. It took strength to attack him and try to force him to tell you about the Gift Female.”
