Archer's Voice

Book Review of Archer's Voice

Title: Archer's Voice

Series: Stand Alone

Author: Mia Sheridan

Date Published:   November 1st 2016

Date Read: February 3, 2018

The Blurb:

When Bree Prescott arrives in the sleepy, lakeside town of Pelion, Maine, she hopes against hope that this is the place where she will finally find the peace she so desperately seeks. On her first day there, her life collides with Archer Hale, an isolated man who holds a secret agony of his own. A man no one else sees.

Archer's Voice is the story of a woman chained to the memory of one horrifying night and the man whose love is the key to her freedom. It is the story of a silent man who lives with an excruciating wound and the woman who helps him find his voice. It is the story of suffering, fate, and the transformative power of love.

My Review

4.5 Seeing Archer Stars

Mild Spoilers

"How do you teach a man who has lost everything, not to fear it happening again? How do you teach a person to trust in something none of us can guarantee?”-Bree

OMG I loved Archer's Voice. This was my first Mia Sheridan read, and I just loved it so much!!!! Archer's voice was sweet, angsty without being over the top, and left me with a huge smile on my face. Mia Sheridan did a great job of bringing the hero and heroine to life. I was completely invested in both Bree and Archer. Her writing style totally worked for me. The story flowed well and I was never bored.

“I'm afraid to love you. I'm afraid that you'll leave and that I'll go back to being alone again. Only it will be a hundred times worse because I'll know what I'm missing. I can't…” He sucked in a shaky breath. “I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don't know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don't let me destroy this.”-Archer

Archer was amazing. He was so sweet and sexy at the same time. There was so much depth to his character. He lived through so much, but he was so brave. I loved how he realized he had a problem and went out and found out who he was. I fell madly in love with Archer. Bree was awesome too. She loved deeply, and had a strength that shined through the pages. I loved how she loved Archer just as he was. She was caring, understanding, and gave him space to learn who he was. She always waited for him and loved him unconditionally. She also had a painful past and had her own demons to battle. She was perfect for my Archer.

“This is that burden I was talking about, Bree. This is what the burden of loving me looks like.” “Loving you isn't a burden. Loving you is an honor and a joy, Archer.”-Archer and Bree

Archer and Bree were absolutely beautiful together. Their love was heartwarming. I ate up every bit of their romance. There was a great building up their relationship. It felt real, strong and unique. I loved that [Archer was a virgin, Bree was his first everything.
There was something so captivating about their love. The vulnerability and tenderness that they shared with each other made this story something very special. The way they both supported each other..... omg total chills. And the sex, the sex was hot as hell.

There has only ever been you. There. Will. Only. Ever. Be. You-Archer

The only thing I didn't like in this book was Travis and his bitch mom. OMG from the start I didn't like him and by the end of the book I wish him and his evil bitch mother would have gotten theirs. I felt they both got off after all the pain they caused and it pissed me off. Which is why I gave this book 4.5 stars instead of a full five. If Travis's mom ended up in Jail I would have been happy. Other than those two assholes this book gave me all the happy feels. The epilogue was everything I love. Completely swoon worthy. I am so happy I gave this book a try and I can't wait to read more books by Mia Sheridan!

“Someday, when we're old and gray, I'm going to look at you lying in bed beside me, just like this, and I'm going to look into your eyes and know that it's only ever been you. And that is going to be the great joy of my life, Bree Prescott.”-Archer

And the secrets Frankie has kept could cross the line right into hate.

My Review

                   3.5 Prank Wars Stars

Hated the 3rd book in the Hearts of Stone series and can be read as a stand alone as I didn't read any of the other books and I followed it just fine. I haven't read any books by Christine Manzari and I enjoyed her writing style. I love the friends to lovers, and second chance tropes and I got plenty of that in this book. I really liked both Frankie and Austin. I thought they made a cute couple. They were both a little immature at times but since they are young adults it could be overlooked. I laughed so hard at their prank wars. I felt like the author gave us readers a good build up to Frankie and Austin relationship including their backstory. I only had two little problems with this book were the secret that Frankie kept from Austin for so long and Austin's mom. Though the secret and Frankie's age were understandable I hate when there is a secret in a book that last almost the whole book. If Frankie had been up front sooner in the book I would have enjoyed it more. I hated Austin's mom. I mean I hated her guts, and I felt she needed to be punished for being a horrible human being. I needed some karmic payback! Still this was an enjoyable read.

My Review

                  5 Deeper Grey Stars

Who love the fuck outta this book ?

I loved the first book in this series, Fifty Shades of Grey , but I loved this one more. OMG I really didn't think I would like this book more . I mean I knew going into this, that I would most likely like it. I liked the first book and this is just the first book in Christian pov. I knew I would get a little more info about what was going on in Mr. Grey's fucked up mind, but the same story. I loved seeing things from Christian's pov. It made me love him more. I know not everyone will agree with me and that is cool. We are all free thinking people and I love that, but when I wrote my review on Fifty Shades of Grey, I had some people message me or leave comments on my review that said all kinds of mean things. "I was weak minded." " I set the feminist movement back" " I was promoting domestic violence" ect ect. So please if you don't like this book or my review that is okay. Just don't send me hateful comments please. This review is just my silly little opinion and means nothing in the grand scheme of things!

That being said, I loved seeing Christian fall in love. Seeing his thought's on Ana. It made me hate Elena more, which quite frankly is amazing because I hated that bitch so much already. My favorite part was the ending when their relationship is falling apart. This book gave me what I wanted that the first one didn't, which was to see what was going though Christian's mind when he realized he had taken it to far with Ana and what he did after she left him. I think getting to see Ana the way Christian seen her was also great because it not only made Ana more Personable, but it made Christian seem more real. I really enjoyed this book and I am sure most Fifty shades fans will. Grey made me miss the series so much I am going to reread book 2&3. I really hope E.L. James makes books 2&3 in Christian's pov . Hey a girl can dream!

My Review

3.5 Balls to the wall stars

"Okay, here's the thing. I'm a virgin. And you need to relieve me of that."

"Riley! Stop staring at my boobs!" I throw my hands up in frustration. "Tell your boobs to stop staring at my eyes!"

Deal breakers is a cute friends to lovers romance. I really liked it, but I would have liked more character & relationship development.

What this book is about

The minute Riley lays eyes on Devyn he wants her, but when Riley asked her out Devyn made it clear that all she was looking for was friendship. Devyn and Riley become best friend after that and are so close that they spend like every day together for the next 4 years of college. Right before graduating college Devyn ask Riley for a big favor. Sleep with her so she doesn't go into the real world with her V-card. Riley having always wanted her says yes and they spend one magical night together. While they make love to each other they both realize they have been in love with each other for years. Devyn tells Riley she loves him and Riley chickens out, acts like he is sleeping and then the next day he runs. They don't talk for 5 years. Riley knows he made a huge mistake. He is still in love with Devyn and wants her. So he moves to her town with plans to win her back and make up for past mistakes, but Devyn has been hiding a big secret from him these past five years and she has a boyfriend. Can Riley get past the life changing secret and convince Devyn that he is the man for her?

He smiles. "Ah, I get it, brother. You've been touched by the Magic Pussy." "The magic what?" "The Magic Pussy," he repeats. "Pussy that is so good you can never get enough and it's impossible to forget. An Urban Legend in my opinion, but you sure do have all the pathetic signs."

"Then what do you want, Rye? What the hell do you want?" "YOU! All I've ever wanted since the day we met was you!"

Riley is fun, sweet, but a total man slut! He is an only child and with his good looks and charm things come easy to him. Devyn is a good girl who aways follows the rules. Both her parents are dead and she only has her brother Drew. Devyn is very down to earth and doesn't know how good looking she is. Riley and Devyn together are smokin' hot. They have a cute friendship that makes them a cute couple but I hated them being apart for 5 years.

"I'll give you time to get your shit together, but don't walk away from this, Devyn. Don't walk away from us."

He shuts my bedroom door and turns the lock. "Take advantage of me, huh?" I laugh. "Oh yes, absolutely. And I'm going to objectify the hell out of you."

I really wished this book would have went a little deeper. I feel like I didn't really get to know who Riley and Devyn are beside the man slut and good girl tom boy. And while their relationship was cute it was superficial. I don't feel like I got to see them fall in love or hurt over their time apart and secrets. There are some really sweet moments in this book and some very funny ones as well. The ending was swoon worthy! Deal Breakers is a cute, quick read!

"For the record, my wee wee has grown quite a bit since then." My mom pats me on the cheek. "I'm sure it has, dear. If you take after your father, Devyn is quite the lucky lady." I cringe. "Mom! Gross! I didn't need to know that!"

My Review

              4.5 Holy Hot Cowboy Stars

"Back off, John Wayne. Don't touch."

MacKenzie Fire is the sequel book to Shine Not Burn and it was hilarious. I laughed so hard that I had tears running down my face. Any book that can do that for me is a winner In my eyes.

“You are not just one person, Candice. You’re a whole tornado of a person.”

What this book is about

Candice is in Oregon in the middle of winter for the next few weeks because her best friend Andie is having her first child and Candice is the god mother. Andie has been telling Candice for a while now that her brother n law Ian is still having a pity party and being a jerk to everyone over his bad break up from 3 years ago. So while Candice is in Oregon with nothing better to do than fall on ice and freeze her butt off she figures she can give Ian the Kick in the pants he so needs to get over his past and make life better for her bff before she leaves. Spending time with that grumpy sexy as hell cowboy should be easy, but Candice soon fears that fixing Ian's heart might end up breaking hers.

“Calm me down … who do you think you are?”He pulls me close, until our chests are touching again. “I’m your guy, that’s who.”

Ian:

"You are in so much fucking trouble,"

Ian is sexy and charming when he wants to be. In the first part of the book Ian is a bit bitter. He let his ex pretty much run his life right down to what degree he got in college and the career he was going to take so when she did him dirty and they ended it left him angry and lost as to what he wants to do with his life. When Candice started to bring him out of his pity party he was very sweet and fun.

“I’ll let you win a battle or two, but I’ll be the one winning this war.”

"Babe, I can’t promise you that I’ll always be perfect, but I’ll do my straight best to try, and I’ll make it my life’s goal to always make sure you’re happy. All you’ve got to do is marry me, and I’ll do the rest"

Candice:

"I'm serious. If your uterus falls out, I don't know if I'm prepared to deal with that. I've never googled that before."

OMG I adored Candice. She is such a playful goof and maybe a touch ditzy. She is outgoing, sassy, and a little crazy! Loyal and all heart I fell in love with Candice's character. The book is from her POV and she is freaking hilarious. She loves to Google everything and isn't afraid to use her googled knowledge to solve all problems. She is very up front she just tells Ian and everyone else what she thinks. Candice is going on my favorite heroine list because she was so different and flippin Awesome!

"No, why would I do that? Obviously you two weren't meant to be together. Your breakup was a good thing. Seriously. You've been hosting this pity party for waaay too long, Ian. Time to cowboy up and stop feeling sorry for yourself."

"I don't know. He just...he gets me all riled up. And he makes me laugh. He challenges me. I do things with him that I've never done before. I like it. I like this new me that I am with him.”

“Google is your friend, people. I’m serious. It’s not a person, it’s a collective group of people who want to help each other, and that’s a good thing.”

Candice didn't take any of Ian's grumpy attitude so their bickering was too funny. So was their wars The snow fight, and the repeated toilet flushing while Ian is in the shower had me in tears. The way Ian kept getting busted by his mom OMG so good!!
"Ian Michael Angus MacKenzie, what on earth are you doing?!" Ian's hand freezes in mid snow-shoving. I spit out the mouthful of snow I have and blink through the water that's melted on my lids. Ian's expression is classic. Busted.
I loved getting to see Andie, Mack and the family some more. I would have liked to get a little bit more of a epilogue since this is the last book in the series, but I still loved the hell outta this series! This book is such a sweet, light hearted, and funny read. I enjoyed it so much.

”I’m going to donate my brain to science. Maybe they can unlock some secrets of the universe from in there.” “More like unlocking Pandora’s box,” Andie mutters. “Do you use that music app? I do. It’s pretty good.”

Shine Not Burn

Book Review of Shine Not Burn (Shine Not Burn Series)

Title: Shine Not Burn

Series: Shine Not Burn

Author: Elle Casey

Date Published: July 1st 2013

Date Read: July 30  2015

The Blurb:
IT HAPPENED IN VEGAS.

I can't be held responsible. Things that happen there are supposed to stay there, right? Right? Yeeeah. Not so much.

Andie's just days away from tying the knot, but there's just ooooone little glitch. Apparently, she's already married. Or someone with her name is married to a guy out in Oregon of all places, and the courthouse won't issue her a marriage license until it's all cleared up. Tripping her way through cow pies and country songs to meet up with a man who gets around places on horseback is her very last idea of how to have a good time, but if she's going to get married, make partner at the firm, and have two point five kids before she's thirty-five, she needs to get to the bottom of this snafu and fix it quick ... before her fiance finds out and everything she's been working toward goes up in flames.

My Review

                     5 Cowboy up Stars

“If you really, really want me to stop touching you, I will. I swear it But if you want me to keep touching you, all you have to do is say please, and it’ll be done. I’ll touch you all night. All you have to do is ask.”

OMG OMG OMG I love this Freakin book!!!!!! It is so damn good. OMG I am in yummy cowboy heaven. This is my first time reading a Elle Casey book, and I am now a total fan girl. This is such a funny, sexy, and sweet love story I was swooning all over the place. I was laughing so hard at times that my husband kept coming and reading over my shoulder and snickering himself.

“It was the best night of my life and not just because you kept calling me King Dong.” I laughed. I couldn't help it. "Oh, how far I've fallen."

What this book is about

Andrea "Andie" Marks has her whole life planned out for her. Marriage, making partner at her law firm, and have children by the time she is 35 years old. She has followed her lifeplan since she was 15 years old except for those 2 days in Vegas for her best friend's bachelorette party. All she remembers about that Vegas trip 2 years ago was getting super drunk and that she slept with a sexy cowboy and the next day he left without a word. Now Andie is engaged to get married to Bradley who fits into her life plan, even though she doesn't really like him and he doesn't treat her well. It's just one week from the wedding and Andie is shocked when the court house says she is already married and can't get a marriage license. Now Andie is off to Oregon to try get a divorce before her fiance finds out.

Sweet Jesus, he's hung. That’s some kind of magic. The way he somehow fits that thing into those pants.

Mack:

I'm so in love with Mack. What is not to love? A sweet, sexy Cowboy with a rockin body and huge mini Mack!!! He was perfect. I swooned and drooled all over my kindle at the things he said OMG!!!!!!!

“I’m engaged.” “No, you’re not,” he growled into my neck. “You’re married. To me. We came first, not him.”

“With every thrust he gave me his response. “You. Are. My. Wife.” The last word came out as a growl."

"You're my wife," he said, only inches away, his hot breath flickering over my lips. "You married me in Las Vegas two years ago." "Yes." "And I'm your husband." I nodded, tears slipping out. He gritted his teeth and growled out, "And this is us, consummating our marriage."

"It's because you're too damn good looking." The second the words left my mouth I heard them and cringed inwardly. "Did I just say that out loud?"

Andie:

I really liked Andie. She was sweet, very serious, and clumsy as hell. She had some sass to her too. She was abused by her mom's boyfriend so she is trying hard to make a better life for herself. So much so that she has total tunnel vision when it comes to her life-plan. Andie made me laugh so hard because she was so awkward and klutzy, but she felt real to me and I was invested in her.

“What are you looking at?” I asked “City slicker. What are you looking at?" “A stupid wookie man-bear-pig who doesn’t know how to mind his own business.”

With him, I knew I could be myself. I could be confident and sexy and in control. I could dream of a life that didn’t involve a plan that had to be followed for the next ten years. I could forget where I came from and who I’d left behind to become the woman I was now

"We're going to have sex again, aren't we?" "He gave me a wicked smile. "Hell yes, we are."

“Once I saw you, I had no choice. I was done for good. You’re the last woman I ever want to be with.”

Mack and Andie have sizzling chemistry, and the sex in this book WOW talk about HOT! DAYUM!!!!! In this book there is two things that normally ruin books for me a love triangle (kinda) with Bradley and Mack and since Andie is married to one man and engaged to the other she was cheating on one of them "technically" but it didn't bother me at all. Not even a little, which is shocking to me, but it was written in a way that didn't upset me in the least. I love Mack's family they're all awesome. The story grabbed me and I couldn't put the book down. I loved everything about this book, but the Star of the book is Mack for me. Mack alone makes me want to give this book 6 stars. I can't wait to read Ian's story.

Below I leave my favorite moment from this book:

“I, Gavin MacKenzie, sexy cowboy man of Baker City, Oregon being of sound mind and hot body do hereby declare that I love you, Andie Marks, lawyer extraordinaire, and want to be married to you until I’m so old, I either die or my pecker falls off. I will have sex with you whenever you want, and I will always give you the option to be on top if that’s what will make you happy. Blowjobs will always be optional but appreciated. I will change diapers when called for, both for our children and for you when you’re old and decrepit. I will never spit in public or burp too loudly or say mean things about your friends. I promise never to raise my hand against you in anger or tell you that you’re useless or threaten to hurt people who you love. Ten-four, over and out, happily ever after. Those are my vows.”
