But when her ex-husband shows up, dropping a bomb of epic proportions, her new life is a whole lot more dangerous than she could have ever imagined.

There’s nothing Johnny wants more than to undo the damage from the past. The secrets he’s been carrying have been eating away at him, but protecting Melia was more important than anything else. Even his own life. He managed to save her last time, but the danger is close—too close. In order to save her once more from his demons, Johnny will have to come clean…about everything.

3 It was okay Stars

Some Spoilers

Dark Justice was the first book By Jenna Ryan that I have read. It was an okay read. I will be honest the synopsis sounded so good and I was excited to get started. I am a sucker for second chance romances, but this book fell flat for me. When I first started reading I really got into it. I felt it had real potential. By the 3rd or 4th chapter in, it just flat lined and never really lived up to my expectations. The story never felt deep to me. I never felt like I really knew the main couple. Their relationship felt superficial as well. There was something else that didn't sit right with me either. I felt the hero and heroine both handled the whole "The bad guy is coming to kill me and has already tried many times" thing oddly. They both treated the threat like it was an pimple. Nothing to see here, just a small annoying bump, then they went about their normal life. Even while they were shot at and almost blown up a number of times. So I never felt the fear or drama. Overall the whole read kinda felt like a Harlequin romance, okay to read, but no real depth.

Deadly Intent

Book Review of Deadly Intent (I-Team Series)

Title: Deadly Intent

Date Read: March 12th 2018

The Blurb:

Secrets buried in the sand…

Former US Army Captain Mia Starr has built a new life for herself in Denver, far away from camel spiders and sand—and the terrible secrets of her first deployment to Iraq. She isn’t looking for a relationship, especially not with an intrusive photojournalist. Joaquin Ramirez might be sexy, but in her experience, photojournalists only want to make a buck off other people’s suffering. Still, the universe must have a sick sense of humor because it keeps throwing her together with Joaquin, making the desire she feels for him harder and harder to resist.

An undeniable attraction…

As a Pulitzer Prize-winning news photographer, Joaquin has everything a single straight guy could want—except the right woman. When he meets Mia while shooting a crime scene, he immediately sees beyond her cold exterior to the vulnerable woman beneath. Though the police consider her a suspect, he’s sure she’s innocent. Someone is killing soldiers—and trying to pin the blame on her. Unable to resist the pull between them, Joaquin stands by her only to find himself snared in the killer’s net as well.

A twisted soul hungry for revenge…

Mia can’t help it when the heat between her and Joaquin melts away her preconceptions. As their passion explodes, danger draws ever closer. When it becomes clear that Mia is the killer’s true target, she must trust Joaquin with a secret that could ruin her … or risk losing the love of a lifetime.

4.5 Sexy Joaquin Stars

Deadly Intent, the 8th book in the I-Team series by Pamela Clare, was so yummy. Joaquin Finally got his book, and I am so happy about it. Joaquin has been a strong, sweet and supportive secondary character all through this series and I really wanted him to get a HEA! I have to say I was a little worried that Joaquin wouldn't stand out in a series full of sexy alpha males like Julian, Zach, Nate and super sexy Marc(my fav), but he totally held his own, while staying true to his character.

Joaquin was so sensual, passionate, and loyal. He didn't all of a sudden become a super kick-ass alpha, but he was still brave, strong and protective. I loved how different he was from the other heroes in this series. When all the others were law enforcement or military bad-asses, he was artistic, and creative. A photographer looking at life though his camera. I also loved having a sexy salsa dancing Latino hero. It's nice to have a hero of a different ethnicity for a change. Mia was strong, honest, and brave. I loved that she was a former Army Captain. I also loved that the author had Mia's character deal with sexual harassment while in the Army, but power through and stand up for herself. I love Strong heroines and Mia was very strong, but she was also vulnerable and sweet.

Joaquin and Mia had a strong almost instant connection. I loved that Joaquin didn't rush Mia because he wanted more than sex. There was tons of sexual tension in this book and Joaquin was sexy as hell. I loved how strong Joaquin was for Mia while not trying to undermine her, like she was some "helpless" girl. The plot of this book was good too, but I found it slightly predictable, as I figured out who the killer was within a few chapters. That didn't take away from my enjoyment of the read at all. I loved getting to see all of my favorites from past books. I love how close all the characters are and how attached I feel to them. I also want to say I really liked that Pamela Clare had Sophie still dealing with issues from the last book's terrorist attack. PTSD is very real and it was nice that everyone wasn't just all better in a blink of an eye. I am so glad I got this book from Netgalley. It was nice to live in the I-team world and see Joaquin find love. I really hope to get Matt's book soon!!!

My Review

4 Half Scottish Stars

What a Highlander's Got to Do, was my first book by Sabrina York and I loved it! I am so glad I got this book from Netgalley, (on a whim because the cover was sexy) because I fell in love with the Untamed Highlanders world. This was the 5th book in the series, but can be read as a stand alone. I fell so in love with all of Isobel and Nick's family that I will be going back and reading all their books as well. Sabrina York's writing style was amazing. She really brought the characters to life. Nick was absolutely scrumptious. He was sexy, sweet, playful, and protective. He loved Isobel just as she was. He fell hard for her and he pursued her like the 1/2 Scottish beast he was. Isobel was very likable. Headstrong, stubborn, wild and independent to the point of reckless at times, Isobel made laugh, smile and want to shake some sense into her in equal measures.

Nick and Isobel had combustible passion. They made a really cute couple, and I was totally invested in their relationship. This book was a 5 star read for me, until Isobel did something stupid and made me want to rip my hair out. I could overlook it for the most part because she was so likable, but it dimmed my enjoyment of this book a tad. Still this was a good 4 star read for me. There was so much Scottish fun in this book. Cute wild Scottish children, sexy Scottish men and Sweet loving couples. I laughed and smiled a lot while reading. I fell in love with not only the main couple but the secondary characters as well. Sabrina York has a new fangirl. Now I have to go buy the secondary character's books so I can enjoy all their stories too!

My Review

*Spoilers*

I am giving it 3.5 stars..... It is just a lit bit better than the first but again could use some editing of 50 or more pages things got a little redundant especially the whole honeysuckle and fennel thing I get it he smells like fennel she smells of honeysuckle for God's sake does it have to be on every page. Also Havily cries a lot too not as much as Alison(I don't think anyone cries as much as Alison) but really what is with the criers! There is parts where crying makes since like I didn't mind when Marcus had some man tears because Havily was taken by Crace!!! Btw Marcus Hott sex lol for real its what made the book better love the whole caveman thing!!!! I also liked how Kerrick stepped up and was there for Marcus when Marcus was a dick to him for the last two hundred years. I love that they made up and are bros again. I liked Havily's and Marcus's characters although I would have liked it more had they not Fought against the breh-hedden so much! The weeping wing locks where kinda of ewww to me just sayin. I am not really looking forward to reading the next book not because I don't like the series because the I like the series don't love it but I like it but I don't like Parisa at all from this book maybe she can redeem herself in the next but I am not getting my hopes up! She is coward of the worst kind your friend is taken and you refuse to help when you can all she does is whine about not wanting to Ascend to much war to much I don't want a warrior for a man he will die, everything is so scary!!! I just wanted to shake the crap outta her like she can just go back to earth I am sure that Greaves won't kill your ass!

What I wanna do to Parisa lol
