The Blurb:A woman at a crossroads…

Rain Minear has fantasized about finding herself in Joe Moffat’s arms for years. It’s just her luck that the night it finally happens, he’s carrying her into the emergency room. It’s Joe who steps up to help her when a tragedy brings her life crashing down. He gives her a place to stay, helps her get back on her feet, and even tries to save her Christmas, though he’s never cared for the holiday. But he’s far too ethical to sleep with a member of his staff, holding her at arms length despite the long-simmering attraction between them.

A man haunted by the past…

Joe Moffat moved to Scarlet Springs to repay a debt. He’s struggled for years to keep his hands off Rain. She’s the general manager of his brewpub, and he is not that kind of boss. But, oh, she turns him on. More than that, she has the biggest heart of any woman he’s ever known. He’d do anything to see her smile again, even put up a Christmas tree and listen to carols.

A season that changes two lives forever…

When a Rocky Mountain blizzard leaves them snowbound, they can no longer ignore their feelings for one another. As their passion turns to something deeper, it becomes clear to them both that this will be the most important Christmas of their lives.

Mild Spoilers

Close to Heaven was a cute little read. I love Pamela Clare and I love The Colorado High Country Series. There is such a sense of community and friendship in these books. The whole town feels real and as a reader I have grown to love them all like I live in that town. So I was super excited to get a book on Joe and Rain. Joe and Rain who give so much to the community in every single book. Joe owns the bar and grill where everyone meets after a long day to eat and hang with friends, and Rain is his manager. They are always helping people who are down and out by raising money . In every book you could feel the lust between them. They kinda remind me of Sam and Diane from the show Cheers. Anyways I was always asking myself why are they not together already and today I got my answer and I got their HEA.

I will say that as much as I enjoyed this book I couldn't give it 5 stars, because it bugged me so much that Joe waited so long to be with Rain. I know the book gives reasons but I felt they weren't good enough reasons..... at least not for a 20 year wait. It drove me crazy that they wasted 20 years that they could have been together. That's like a whole lifetime. All that said it was still a solid 4 star read for me. I did love Joe. I felt at times he was a bit clueless. I got that he felt bad because of the past but he let it rule him to the point that I wanted to reach into my kindle and shake some sense into him. Joe does have a big heart and I could feel his love and respect for Rain. Rain I loved. She was so sweet, and caring. I loved what a good mother she was to her daughter. How hard she worked to give Lark a good life. Pamela Clare did a great job working a lifetime of happiness into one book. She gave me everything I crave in a cute Christmas time love story. It was a happy, sweet read. I also really enjoyed the little side story given as Rain reads Joe's great, great, great, grand asshole's I mean Grandfather's journal. The bit of town history was interesting. I was glad that Pamela Clare didn't paint a happy brush over the past. Didn't give the past a happy ending but instead showed that sometimes bad guys don't pay. I truly hated Joe's great, great........many more greats grandpa he was a worthless pos and reading about the disgusting things he did and never paid for added a layer of emotion to a read that would have been too happy go lucky if it didn't have sadness/anger to balance it out. I am glad Joe and Rain finally got their HEA and all I can say is it's about time lol.

My Review

                  5 Suspenseful Stars

Wow this series just keeps getting better. Hello Again had me totally hooked. I was hanging on the edge and eager to sneak peeks ahead. I stayed up all night just to finish it. I feel Evelyn has really grown in this series from book 1. I also feel that Amarok and Evelyn's relationship has grown a lot too. The romance does take a back seat to the suspense but it's such a thrilling book that I don't even mind. Evelyn took some big steps in this book. I loved that she opened up more to Amarok and that she trust him completely. I really wish she would commit more fully to him though. Amarok was just as awesome as he has always been. I love me some Amarok. Although I will say I was a little annoyed at the whole ex girlfriend part of the plot. I was very upset that Amarok danced with Sam(his ex) even if it was just so he wouldn't hurt her feelings. I would have liked it more if he would have looked at her and said I don't want you go away lol childish I know.

Poor Evelyn, she's got psychopaths coming for her at every turn. Not only is Jasper Moore (her high school boyfriend that tortured, raped and tried to kill her when she was a teen) still coming after her, she also had an ex coworker acting more like a prisoner than a psychiatrist, and she made an enemy out of the Zombie Maker. I have to say that being in Jasper's mind is so creepy. Knowing his plans and seeing him work his way into Evelyn and Amarok's life had me yelling at my kindle. I can't go into too much without spoiling it so I will just say that Jasper is a sick, sneaky, and crafty, sob. The ending ...omg....was so wrong. I needed more, and now I have to wait for the next book. I can't believe Brenda Novak is going to make us readers wait til next year to find out how it all turns out. Patience is not my virtue. Overall this book was well written, thrilling, and everything I have come to expect from Brenda Novak... I can't wait to see what happens next!

My Review

3 Mixed emotions Stars

***Spoilers please don't read if you don't like

spoilers***

Well I have been putting off writing this review for 3 days now. I have been trying to decide how to rate a book that had me all over the place with my emotions. I have loved the Kavanagh's since book one. All four of the books before this one and the novella got a 4 or 5 star from me. I was so looking forward to this book. I figured it would be a little cute Christmas novella that would make the way for Jimmy or Casey's book, but nope. I was so disappointed to read at the start of this book that this would be the last book of the series. That this book takes place years after the last book and would touch on the whole family and then wrap up the series. I was really looking forward to Jimmy's book and Casey's. So I started this book on a bit of a sour note knowing I wouldn't be getting two books I was looking forward to. A couple pages into the book and I was back into my happy little Kavanah world enjoying this big loud Irish family. I settled in for a nice sweet holiday story but instead I got some sweet with a lot of tears and heartbreak. Why Sarah Why???? I love Sarah's writing style and her yummy heroes but I couldn't handle all the sadness this book gave me. First off it felt like one long depressing epilogue. As this book starts years after Quinn's and then covers 12 years into the future. Though there was good stuff in this read like sexy time with my favorite couples, New babies, and new relationships(Casey and Jimmy)the heart break overshadowed all my happy feels.

This was suppose to be a happy Christmas read I didn't want to read that Rory and Clare six year old son gets cancer and has to battle cancer for many years having to suffer pain and life long health issues from the chemo. Nor did I want to read about Seamus and Dee dying. OMG they are the heart of the family. I cried like for real I fucking cried. I have fell in love with big gruff Seamus and super mom Dee. They have been a big part of every single book in the series they can't die. They have to live forever and live HEA! Now because I did enjoy about half of the book I gave it 3 stars. But to be honest I felt sad and disappointed after I finished it and I really wished I hadn't read it in the first place so Dee and Seamus would still be alive in my head. Don't take my silly over emotional opinions on this book. I am definitely the minority in my rating and feelings since all my friends loved it.

Relentless

Book Review Relentless  (Vampires in America Series)

Title:Relentless

Series: Vampires in America Series

Author: D.B. Reynolds

Date Published:  October 30th 2017

Date Read:   October 30, 2017

The Blurb:

TREACHERY . . . Something the powerful Vampire Lord Raphael has seen far too much of lately.

RAGE . . . An emotion that, left unchecked, can burn like the fires of hell.

REVENGE . . . A dish that philosophers claim is best served cold.

It’s been months since the powerful French vampire Mathilde used Raphael’s arrogance against him and nearly succeeded in taking his life. His fury has grown stronger with every day since, fed by new bloody incursions onto North American soil by the Europeans, while vampire politicking has forced him to wait. But no longer. Someone has attacked his home, killing vampires, threatening Cyn. They’ve taken it one step too far, and Raphael’s tired of waiting. His enemies are about to discover that revenge can taste damn good when it’s hot, too.

My Review

            Raphael and Cyn forever Stars

I just love this series. Cyn and Raphael are just so damn cute together. I love when D.B. Reynolds writes these little short stories, anything that gives me more Cyn and Raphael time. In this book they are going after the European vampires that have been sending hit men to Raphael's home, and people. Raphael isn't going to sit around anymore while these power hunger vampires come after those he loves, he is taking the fight to them. Raphael and Cyn are just so bad ass and I love that they fight together. Relentless not only gave me happy time with one of my favorite vampire couples but it set up the next book in the series Quinn! When Quinn came on the scene I was totally intrigued. Sexy, powerful, smart and Irish I just can't wait to read Quinn's book.
