The Blurb:

When Victoria Langford got engaged, she told herself to give love a chance. Six months later, she's on the run from her angry, abusive ex-fiancé with her four-year-old daughter and nowhere to go.

Seventy miles north of Dallas, the Iron River Ranch is pretty much nowhere. That’s what its new owner, Josh Cain, wanted when he came back from Afghanistan. Big skies, quiet nights, no trouble.

One look tells Josh the pretty redhead with the adorable little girl will give him trouble of the most personal kind. But he’s seen trouble before, and he doesn't scare easy. Not when “accidents” start happening around the ranch. Not when Tory’s best friend back in Phoenix is abducted and brutalized. Not even when it looks like their current problems are only the tip of the iceberg.

But if he gets too close to fierce, determined Tory, Josh knows his nights are going to be anything but quiet. And that’s one possibility no amount of training can prepare him for . .

My Review

                        5 Safe Haven Stars

I love me some Kat Martin books. My first taste of her work was when I got her books in the BOSS INC series. I loved all 3 of them. So when I seen this one on netgalley I knew I wanted to read it. I am so glad I got to read this book. Beyond Control was so good. I loved every single minute of it. Josh was amazing. He was protective, sweet and sexy! A former sniper in the Marines Josh was a total badass. Plus I have a weakness for men in uniforms! I could just picture him in his dress blues and fatigues .......yum!

Sorry I think I drooled a little. Anyways Tory was great too. I love how smart and brave she was. She didn't take stupid risk, or run blindly into danger. She did what she had to, to protect her daughter, herself and the man she loved. Josh and Tory had major chemistry. The sexual tension was just rolling off the pages. The plot was very good. I like the domestic abuse trope, because it does happen in real life. I love anything that brings light to the problem of domestic abuse. Plus I love when the domestic abuse trope has a strong heroine to show that women do have power and can fight back. I love that Tory was able to lean on Josh for protections and still be strong in her own right. This book had a ton of action, but it had sweet down times too, where it built up Tory and Josh's relationship. Tory's ex Damon (the bad guy abuser) was super evil and gave me the creeps. Overall this book kept me on the edge of my seat, gave me all the feels and made me want to go back and read the first two books in this series. I loved it!

My Review

5 I love The Phoenix Pack Stars

I just love Suzanne Wright. She is one of my favorite authors in the paranormal romance world. I know when I get one of her books that I will be in my happy zone. Wild Hunger was as awesome as I hoped. I have been waiting for Trick's book for so long. I will be honest and say that I thought Trick's mate would have been male. I was looking forward to a good M/M shifter read, but I wasn't disappointed in the way things turned out. I ended up loving Trick and Frankie.

Trick was everything I love in my paranormal heroes. He was supportive, sexy, dominant, and completely kicked ass. Frankie was sassy, brave, and funny. I loved that she was open and honest. I also really love that they didn't fight the mating bond or take forever to figure it out. It was sweet that even though they knew they were mates they didn't actually mate right away but instead got to know each other and had a real relationship, dates and such. Trick gave Frankie time to deal with everything going on in her life. They were just so good together. I also really enjoyed the plot. Wild Hunger was another win for The Phoenix Pack Series.

My Review

The Big Alpha In Town 3 Stars

Because this book is 3 stories in 1 I will rate and do a mini review for each story. First up is

Bearing His Name by Eve Langlais

2 Star

Bearing His Name was just blah for me. I had a hard time connecting to the couple. I didn't like the plot of the book were Ark might have impregnated his Mate's sister. I get that it was before he met his mate, and of course he wasn't the father of the baby, had never slept with the sister. Still it was just a gross start to the story.  Ark came off very stalkerish. She would say no 100s of times and he would just act like she never said anything.

On top of that Jade came off bitchy. She would be mean to Ark and push him away, no matter how hard he tried. Then there was that fact that at times this book got confusing. There was some funny parts but for the most part I didn't care for this story.

Owned by the Lion by Milly Taiden

3.5 Stars

I enjoyed Owned by the Lion much more than I did Bearing his name. I liked the plot a lot more. Keir and Ally had good chemistry. Still there were parts that got a little confusing. On top of that the hero was a reformed man-whore. Which I have no problem with. My problem was the fact that everywhere the couple went exes would confront Ally and it was really annoying. Overall I enjoyed this read.

No Need Fur Love by Kate Baxter

2 Stars

I didn't care for this story at all. Owen was very underdeveloped and one dimensional. Mia I couldn't stand at all. She was selfish and didn't care how her choices would hurt anyone. The only thing that mattered was what she wanted. More than my dislike for the heroine, is the fact that the book was so short and felt super rushed. I felt no connection at all between the h&h. I just wasn't feeling this one.

So over all this whole book was about a 3 star for me. The running theme of all the stories in this book is promiscuity.

The first two stories the heroes were sleeping with everyone and in the last one the heroine was a wood nymph. Now I don't have a problem with stories where the h or h sleep with others in the past but it was ott in this book. They slept around like they changed their underwear. It kinda took away something special about the couples. That of course is just my humble opinion. My favorite read of the three was Owned by the lion.

My Review

4 When Good Girls Go Bad Stars

Cocksure by K.I. Lynn and Olivia Kelley was a great read. It was my first time reading anything from either author and I really liked the writing style and flow of the book. The witty banter and brotherly ribbing between the hero and his best friend(heroine's brother) was funny af. I loved the plot! I am a total sucker for the forbidden fruit, best friend's little sister love stories.

I loved the hero Niko. He was a sexy firefighter, and reformed man whore that fell hard for his best friend's lil sister Everly. He was faithful from the moment he and Everly got together for the first time. He broke all his own rules with her.

Rules:
1. Never bring them back to my place.
2. Only one night.
3. Don't catch feelings.
4. See all rules above.

I loved that Niko made himself vulnerable with Everly. He put his feelings out there and he pursued her even after she pushed him away many times. I had mixed feelings for Everly. At first I loved her. I thought she was sassy, funny and smart. Then around the 40% til like 60% in the book I really didn't like the way she acted. She was insecure and immature. She would act bitchy and push Niko away.

I got were she was coming from. As someone that has been cheated on I total understood how she could feel the way she did. I got her insecurities, but I didn't like the way she would attack Niko for his past. Like just because he slept with a lot of women before her, that made him a cheater. She did pull her head out of her ass and by the end of the book I really loved her again. Niko and Everly together were smokin' hot. When they got together after Everly stopped pushing Niko away gave me all the feels. They were just so cute. I also loved Cam(Everly's brother) and Niko's friendship. I thought it was sweet and funny how protective of his little sister Cam was. He was like a sexier, tougher Ross from Friends.

Cam was great and I felt the sexual tension between him and Everly's best friend Aly. The ending of the book was very sweet. It gave me what I love in HEAs. I seen that the next book is Cam and Aly's and I can't wait to read it.

The Blurb:

A Duke Like No Other is a Regency spy caper with Valerie Bowman at her best as husband and wife match wits and may just fall in love in the process.

My Review

3 A failure to communicate Stars

A Duke Like No Other was my first time reading Valerie Bowman. Although I enjoyed this book, there were a few things that didn't work for me. I love second chance love stories, but the reason for the separation has to be a good one for it to work for me. In A Duke Like No Other I didn't feel the reason the hero and heroine parted ways was a good one. Especially when it caused them to be apart for 10 long years.

I liked both Nicole and Mark, but I felt they both were very childish in the way they didn't talk about their problems at all. They let a little misunderstanding keep them apart for 10 YEARS! Then even when they made a deal to reunite they didn't work out their problems. I felt their resolution was rushed and took to long to get it. I felt the problems in their marriage were glossed over with hot sex and working on a murder case. Overall the book was cute and I enjoyed it but it wasn't as good as it could have been. Will I read more books by Valerie Bowman? Yes I will.
