The Blurb:

When single mother Gabriella Stefano arrives home from work, she's shocked to find her ex-husband waiting for her in her kitchen. He's supposed to be in prison.

Gaby manages to call 911 and escape, but she's afraid her ex-husband's next stop will be her daughters' school. Calling Alex Jennings is the logical thing to do – the Chicago homicide detective is a family friend. But no matter how hard she tries to hide it, Gaby's feelings for Alex are far more than friendly. And when Alex camps out at her house to make sure the Stefano family is safe, it becomes nearly impossible to hide her attraction from Alex.

Alex wants far more from Gaby than friendship. He's been giving her space to recover from her tumultuous marriage, but being forced to spend nearly all their time together is chipping away at the wall he's built around his heart. Alex wants Gaby and her girls in his life – permanently.

With Gaby's abusive ex still on the loose, and the danger escalating, Alex and Gaby have to concentrate on the immediate threat. But when Gaby discovers Alex's secrets, will they prove to be more dangerous than her ex-husband?

My Review

4 love is patient Stars

See Me The 8th book in The Donovan Family series was great. It is now tied with Quinns book for my favorite of the series. I first read about Gaby, Bella, and Alex in Conn's story the 4th book in the series and I fell in love with Alex then. I had some reservations about Gaby after some of the choices she made in book 4, but she really redeemed herself in this book, and I got to see her in a whole new light. I loved getting to know Alex and Gaby on a deeper level. They both were realistic and likable characters. They had a great relationship with lots of passion. Alex was very sweet, protective and supportive. He was there for Gaby giving her time, not pushing her for more than she could give. Gaby was very sweet too. She was trying to learn from her mistakes, and be a better mom and person. To stand on her only two feet. I loved both of Gaby's daughters Bella, and Cece. There was some cute moments with Alex and the girls. I really enjoyed the plot and all the action. The ending was very sweet but I wish it would have given us readers a look further into this couple's future. Great read I have really enjoyed this series.
